Doug, this is my favorite picture! Carmon
I SAW MTB BACK IN 1975, JULY 4th WEEKEND, IN TAMPA,FL. I WAS IN THE NAVY AT THE TIME AND WE DROVE UP FROM DOWN IN KEY WEST ALL NIGHT TO MAKE THE CONCERT THE NEXT DAY. I DON'T REMEMBER TOO MUCH...('STONED' THEN, OLD NOW) (HA-HA) BUT, I DO REMEMBER MTB 'ROCKIN' OUT'! A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER I GOT STATIONED UP IN ALASKA AND GOT INTRODUCED TO 'WHERE WE ALL BELONG' BY A NEXT-DOOR NEIGHBOR WHO LIKED TO 'JAM' HIS STEREO LOUD ENOUGH TO MAKE THE WALLS SHAKE!(HA-HA) LONG STORY SHORT... AFTER HEARING '24 HOURS AT A TIME' AT THAT VOLUME, I WAS 'HOOKED' AND HAVE BEEN A HUGE FAN EVER SINCE! R.F.L.
Just Great and your one of my most favorite Southern Rock Band! man listen to you guys back in the 1970s and now, I still have the greatest respect for you guys in the Band! You all Rock, Chris in Missouri!!
Went to see MTB at the Canyon Club in Agoura Ca last nite. The place was sold out. I went to see Marshall Tucker because on July 3 1989 my wife and I got married at Calamigos ranch a mile down the road from the concert.
On our guest invitations for the wedding was The Marshall Tucker Band song In My Own Way which was the theme song and love song from me to my wife.
In 1993 I saw the band at a club in LA and got the band to sign my wedding invitation.
Because I had an extra invitation, I was hoping the Marshall Tucker bank would be able to sign my second invitation again at the canyon Club. It would have made a great 25th wedding anniversay.
It was unfortunate that the MTB did not play the song nor was I able to meet them and get their autographs. MAYBE NEXT TIME
The best part was the band sounded great and brought some great memories to the front and made me teary eyed.
Thanks for posting all these great pics! I had this one on the wall of my room for a long time in about 1983. MTB was my first real concert experience - at Purdue University, maybe 1978. The show had the full original lineup of band members. Amazing stage backdrop for the show - artist rendering from the cover of "The Long Hard Ride". Curtain opened to reveal the backdrop as Toy's riffs kicked off the song. Incredible crowd reaction! Saw the band many more times through the late 80's. Listening NOW to MTB station on Pandora. Keeping an eye out for a tour stop in central Indiana.
I first saw MTB back in 73" drove down to Providence, RI from Portland , ME to see them play. Charlie Daniels was with them then , in fact he was the opening group .
Since then I've seen then about a dozen times throughout New England , even enjoyed dinner next to the band at a restaurant in Bridgewater,Ma before a show. Nothing compares to having walked into Church Street Station bar in Orlando one night back in early nineties and hearing a band playing their songs.
The group took a break and sat next to me at the bar and I commented "you guys play MTB songs as well as they do". The response was "we are The Marshall Tucker Band".
