Nashville, Tenn. (November 25, 2015) - The ticket sales and donations have been totaled and officials have announced that Monday's Christmas 4 Kids concert held at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium generated more than $100,000, solidifying this year's show as one of the most successful in the organization's 25+ year history.
"This year's concert was one of the biggest in the history of Christmas 4 Kids," says Christmas 4 Kids President, Linda O'Connell. "We are ecstatic with the amount of money raised for the kids. A very big 'thank you' to the artists, hosts and staff who all donated their time to make the night a huge success!"
Before a packed house, headliner The Marshall Tucker Band, legendary country groups Restless Heart and Shenandoah and winner of NBC's The Voice, Craig Wayne Boyd, kept the crowd enamored with more than three hours of live music. The night included several surprise appearances. Country Music Hall of Famer William Lee Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys joined Restless Heart on "Thank God For Kids" and to a thunderous applause, 14X GRAMMY winner Ricky Skaggs stormed The Marshall Tucker Band's set, mixing a little bluegrass with southern rock. The event was hosted by 650AM WSM's Bill Cody and TV personality Kelly Sutton.
The night ended with The Marshall Tucker Band ushering everyone back to the stage for a group sing-along of the band's classic hit, "Can't You See."
"This was such a special night," notes Marshall Tucker Band lead singer, Doug Gray. "It was really overwhelming... being on-stage with so many incredible musicians and all for a great cause. Thank God for kids!"
About Christmas 4 Kids
Christmas 4 Kids is a not-for-profit organization that has been in existence for over 25 years providing many children, each year, with their very own shopping spree. The funds generated by the concert, and the Tour Bus Show/Artist Meet and Greet event, are used to give over 400 children from 29 different schools, a day-long shopping excursion. The special day consists of a chauffeured trip from their school aboard an entertainer's luxury tour bus, dinner, and a party hosted by Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Hendersonville Expo Center. To wrap up the day, the tour buses journey to the Hendersonville, Tennessee, Walmart, where the kids receive a brand new winter coat, and $150.00 to spend however they choose.
